3 Days Akagera National Park Safari | Rwanda Big Five Wildlife Tour

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – Transfer to Akagera National Park

Your safari begins with pick-up from Kigali International Airport or your hotel in Kigali by your professional safari guide.

Depending on your departure time, you may enjoy a short Kigali city tour including visits to local craft markets or cultural landmarks before departing for Akagera National Park in eastern Rwanda.

The drive to Akagera offers beautiful views of Rwanda’s rolling hills, rural villages, and scenic countryside landscapes.

Upon arrival at the park, enjoy an afternoon game drive while searching for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, antelopes, baboons, and numerous bird species across the savannah plains and woodland areas.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive & Lake Ihema Boat Safari

Wake up early for breakfast before heading out for a full morning game drive in Akagera National Park.

Explore different sections of the park while searching for the Big Five including lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinoceroses. You may also spot hyenas, giraffes, impalas, topis, warthogs, and numerous bird species.

Akagera’s diverse habitats ranging from open savannah and acacia woodlands to wetlands and lakes make it one of Rwanda’s richest wildlife ecosystems.

After lunch and relaxation, enjoy a relaxing afternoon boat safari on Lake Ihema, the second-largest lake in Rwanda.

The boat cruise offers excellent opportunities to view hippos, crocodiles, water birds, elephants, and buffaloes gathering along the shoreline.

Return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.
