Explore Rwanda’s top travel destination with a 2 Days Rwanda Gorilla Trekking Safari. Depart from Kigali and journey to Volcanoes National Park in the Ruhengeri district to track endangered mountain gorillas in their natural environment. Volcanoes National Park is one of the few places in the world where gorilla trekking is possible, alongside Bwindi Forest and Mgahinga in Uganda, and Virunga in DRC.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

Pick up from your Kigali hotel and begin a Kigali city tour. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft shops, and Kigali Convention Centre. Afterwards, drive through Rwanda’s lush countryside to Volcanoes National Park (approx. 2–2.5 hours). Check in at your lodge. If time allows, visit Ibyi'wacu Cultural Village to experience traditional dances, food preparation, and house construction. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park and Transfer Back to Kigali

Early morning pick-up from lodge and transfer to park headquarters for a briefing. You will be assigned a gorilla family to trek. Ascend into the forest to track gorillas. Spend up to 1 hour observing and photographing these gentle giants. After trekking, return to the lodge, check out, and transfer back to Kigali for dinner and overnight. End of the safari.
