Safari Overview

This 5-day Wildebeest Calving Safari takes you to the Ndutu region of the Serengeti, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and Tarangire National Park. Observe the birth of thousands of wildebeest calves, experience the predator-prey action, and enjoy stunning savannah landscapes.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Depart from Arusha after breakfast for Tarangire National Park. Explore the park with its large elephant herds, acacia and Baobab trees, and rich savannah landscapes along the Tarangire River. Look out for lions, leopards, buffalo, and rare species like the Greater Kudu or Fringe-Eared Oryx. Picnic lunch included. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.

Day 2: Tarangire – Ndutu

Scenic drive to Ndutu via Ngorongoro Conservation Area with optional stops at Oldupai Gorge Museum or a Maasai boma visit. Explore the Ndutu Plains after lunch and witness the abundant wildlife and beginning of the calving season. Overnight in Ndutu.

Day 3: Ndutu Region

Early morning sunrise game drive along Lake Ndutu. Full-day game drive through the Ndutu and Lake Masek area to witness thousands of young wildebeest and predators hunting. Overnight in Ndutu.

Day 4: Ndutu – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Morning game drive for last sightings of wildebeest calves, then travel to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Afternoon drive through Ngorongoro Highlands to spot giraffes, antelopes, elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs. Dinner and overnight on the crater rim or Karatu.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

Depart after breakfast for a full game drive inside the Ngorongoro Crater, home to the Big Five and over 120 mammal species. Observe black rhinos, hippos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and a massive wildebeest population. Picnic lunch by the hippo pool before returning to Arusha. End of safari.
